Joseph Opinel crafted his very first pocket knife in 1890 in Savoie in the French Alps. Made with function, design and a simple, sleek aesthetic in mind, his exceptionally stylish knives and tools have truly stood the test of time. Each one is a carefully crafted with Opinel's original mastery in mind and the varied collection now includes pocket knives, kitchen knives, children's beginner sets, DIY tools and more. The Opinel family still runs the business to this day; their Chambéry factory employs 130 people and they even boast a museum based in the village of Saint Jean de Maurienne where visitors can marvel at the blacksmith skills perfected by the family over several generations.
