The No. 8 adventurer is THE iconic knife from the Opinel brand. Designed more than 130 years ago, it is a multi-purpose knife suitable for outdoor and indoor use. It has an 8.5 cm stainless steel blade and a wooden handle. The Opinel Baroudeur No. 8 is equipped with the Virobloc® security system. A leather tie at the end of the handle makes it easy to hang or hang. Opinel knives are made in France. We offer you the No. 8 adventurer knife in three colors: Garnet Khaki Black Brown The handle: Made from hornbeam wood from French farms. This white wood with a faint grain is ideal for coloring it without losing the texture of the wood. Then, a varnish is applied to protect the handle from humidity and dirt. The curved shape of the handle allows a good grip of the knife. The blade: The Yatagan blade is the traditional Opinel blade. Its particular shape with a raised tip is inspired by a saber of Turkish origin. The blade has a rounded profile obtained by grinding which gives it robustness and facilitates its resharpening. The stainless steel used is of European origin. It is a martensitic stainless steel with a hardness of 55-57 HRC which offers great resistance to corrosion and very good mechanical performance. This blade has an excellent sharpness and high resistance to abrasion. It can therefore easily be brought into contact with hard materials. Re-sharpening and the blade will regain all its sharpness. Very robust, it will still show its limits if it is placed in prolonged contact with materials or in an abrasive environment. (salt water, acid, etc.). Stainless steel does not require any special maintenance. The Virobloc® safety ring: Marcel Opinel invented this safety system for folding knives in 1955. This stainless steel ring consists of two parts: one sliding and the other fixed. By turning it, it locks the knife in the open position to facilitate its use. Since then, the Virobloc® system has been improved to also allow the knife to be locked in the closed position and thus also secure its transport.
