Harper Collins The Beauty And The Beast Book
Red Sauce, Brown Sauce – Felicity Cloake
Breakfast is one of those things that people, particularly British people, can get very heated about. The Full English is many different things to many different people; there are those for whom there are very strict rules about what it should, and perhaps more importantly should not, include.
Following her previous book One More Croissant for the Road – a cycle trip that was more of a point-to-point trip around French bakeries – she travels the length and breadth of the UK in this book uncovering an obsession with breakfast. Her Guardian series aims to establish a perfect recipe for dishes (moussaka, chocolate mousse etc) by comparing the recipes of other writers and chefs against one another. Here she tries to uncover what makes the perfect fry-up; but also those other alternatives to this, be it a Staffordshire oatcake or a Greggs Geordie stottie cake.
