&Tradition Setago JH27 Jaime Hayon 2019 | Nude & Forest Lamp
The Formakami JH4 suspension lamp is created in the typical style of Jaime Hayon, unconventional paper lanterns. It is an ultra-light rice paper ceiling lamp, echoing ancient Asian lanterns reimagined in a modern aesthetic. Paper lanterns are used in Asia by both the privileged and the poor, where different colors, shapes, and sizes connote different meanings. Here, its author has dispensed with cultural formalities to create a series of lanterns all in white. Handmade with rice paper fusing various sizes and shapes together.
"Lamps play a very important role in people's lives," explains Hayon. "For some cultures, they chase away the darkness by bringing hope. I've tried to keep this emotional point of view about the light."
The paper lantern series is made up of three different versions in ivory white rice paper with black stained oak accents, hanging gracefully in any interior setting.
